OKC Human Rights Award 2014

Good Morning Friends of the Respect Diversity Foundation,

As a member of the Respect Diversity Foundation’s (RDF’s) Board of Directors, and admirer of Joan and Michael, it gives me great pleasure to announce an award that they will receive. On Tuesday, September 9, they will be presented the 2014 OKC Human Rights Award by the Oklahoma Center for Community & Justice.

I was a former Chairman of the Oklahoma State Human Rights Commission and know the value of recognizing leaders for the work they do in the area of human rights. Joan and Mike are giants in this area and this recognition is not sought, but well deserved.

As we enter the 14th year of RDF, it is important to recognize the impact of this foundation that teaches respect for all cultures. RDF has worked with over 270,000 students, teachers and adults through assemblies, seminars, workshops, art integration exhibits and inter-cultural panels.

Mike and Joan are humbled to be receiving this recognition along with other 2014 awardees Dr. Imam Imad Enchassi, Carla Hinton and Jan Peery; each of whom has made an important difference in the world. (See press release below.)

I congratulate Joan and Michael for this well-deserved recognition!
